SERVICE ANIMALS
Trained service dogs are welcome to assist visitors in the museum. Pets are not allowed.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
The museum is accessible by wheelchair, including the auditorium and restrooms. All three levels of the museum can be accessed via an elevator. If you would like to request the use of a wheelchair, please inquire at the front desk upon arrival.
LISTENING DEVICES
For programs taking place in the auditorium, assisted listening devices (ALDs) are available upon request; please inquire at the front desk. For the majority of programs and events held within the galleries, ALDs are available as well. While we will likely be able to accommodate ad-hoc requests, we encourage visitors to email
contact-programs@henryart.org in advance so we can have the technology ready for use. For your safety, ALDs are cleaned after each use.
CAPTIONING
Virtual programs held via Zoom offer automated live captioning. Closed captioning is available for videos on the Henry’s
YouTube channel. For exhibitions that contain videos that do not have closed captioning, transcripts are available.
LOW-VISION GUIDES
The museum provides low-vision guides for the majority of exhibitions. Guides are available within the galleries and contain all exhibition-related texts, including introductory and object label texts. You can also access low-vision guides on our website. Please look under "Related Content" on individual exhibition pages.
MUSEUM ENVIRONMENT
The museum is typically quietest on Thursdays before 5 PM and on Fridays. Weekends tend to be quieter in the morning. The James Turrell skyspace, titled
Light Reign, offers a meditative experience and visitors are invited to sit back and absorb the work over a period of time. Please note that lighting may be dimmed in some galleries for display or conservation purposes.
RESTROOMS
The Henry has two all-gender restrooms on the Mezzanine Level. Gendered restrooms are located on the Upper Level. All restrooms are fully accessible.
SEATING
Seating is available in the café, on the Sculpture Court, and throughout the museum. Folding chairs for in-gallery use are available upon request; please inquire at the front desk.
