The Eleanor Henry Reed Collection Study Center makes the Henry’s permanent collection accessible to everyone, including scholars, educators, students, artists, and the community. Named in honor of Eleanor Henry Reed, Horace Henry’s granddaughter, and her husband William G. Reed, the Study Center allows for direct and personal engagement with the Henry’s collection. If there’s something in our collection you’d like to see, you don’t have to wait for a curator to put it on display—this resource enables deeper connections with the artworks.

After a series of important collection storage upgrades, we are re-opening the Study Center on March 15, 2025!

About the Study Center

Much of the Henry's collection—paintings, sculpture, ceramics, costumes and textiles, prints and drawings, and photographs—is available to view by appointment Tuesday through Friday.
For those who want to go deeper, the Study Center also offers access to object and artist files, a reference library of more than 5,000 volumes, and a computer station with collection database search tools. It’s an invaluable resource to discover the stories behind the objects and the artists who created them.



Plan Your Visit

To ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, the Study Center is open to individuals and groups of 25 or less by advance appointment. Prior to making an appointment, use the online collection database and other collection resources to make your selection. You may request up to 20 objects from the collection for viewing; however, not all objects may be available due to age, size, fragility, and accessibility. Please ask if you need any help — we’re happy to guide your selection process and answer any questions.
