The Henry advances contemporary art and ideas. At the museum, you will find exhibitions by an always-rotating roster of international artists working at many different scales and media—from intimate photography installations to monumental immersive experiences, sometimes drawn from our permanent collection. As the only museum solely dedicated to contemporary art in our region, we collaborate with emerging and established artists to explore topics important to our times—identity, representation, sustainability, and more. Museum Hours

MUSEUM HOURS
Monday – Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: 10 AM – 7 PM
Friday – Sunday: 10 AM – 5 PM

As per University of Washington guidelines, mask wearing is recommended while indoors. Please note that the last entry to the museum is 30 minutes before closing time.

CITY GRIND CAFÉ HOURS
Sunday - Monday: Closed
Tuesday – Friday: 9 AM – 4 PM
Saturday: 11 AM – 3 PM

The café offers dine-in services. Please note that guests must remain masked while not drinking/eating.

Admission

General Admission: $0–20 suggested donation

The Henry is always free for Henry members, UW community*, Museums for All participants, educators, military personnel, caregivers, students, and children. Free passes are also available through the Seattle Public Library Museum Pass program.

The Henry is free on first Thursdays.

Directions

The Henry is located on the University of Washington campus, roughly at the cross streets of 15th Ave NE and NE 41st St. There is usually street parking nearby, or you can park in the UW Central Parking Garage (for a fee weekdays; Saturday afternoons and Sundays are free). Enter the museum from the plaza.
Several bus routes run near the museum. Check out the King County Metro Trip Planner to find the best route for you. The Link Light Rail runs regularly to the U District Station (8 min walk through U District) and the University of Washington Station (15 min walk across UW campus). Both stations are on the 1 Line, schedules can be found here.
If you like to bike, the Burke-Gilman trail is just a few blocks south of the Henry. Turn north on 15th Ave NE and secure your bike in the rack in the plaza outside the Henry's front doors.

Land Acknowledgement

We at the Henry Art Gallery live and work on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples, and the shared waters of all tribes and bands, named and unnamed, including Suquamish, Duwamish, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot nations. The land acknowledgment reminds us of our connections, indebtedness, and responsibilities to the peoples and the more-than-human kin where we live and work.
As you visit the museum, we invite you to join us in paying respects to elders past, present, and future and to consider what paying those respects means within the work that we do as individuals and within institutional frameworks.

Liaison Tours

The Henry offers public tours of current exhibitions led by the Henry Art Liaisons, a group of University of Washington students from multidisciplinary backgrounds. Learn more here.

Tours take place on various Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from February 2 through March 11, and center participation in the co-creation of knowledge.

Photo Policy

Feel free to take photos in the galleries (no flash photography, please– it's damaging to the art) for your personal, non-commercial use. At times, photography will not be allowed and a notice will be posted.
Video cameras and tripods require advanced permission. Contact press@henryart.org if you would like to record video in the galleries or have other special photography requests.
For information concerning permission to publish or to request photographing works in the Henry collection, contact collections@henryart.org. Members of the press should contact press@henryart.org.
