The Untuning of the Sky: SassyBlack

Join the Henry at the Volunteer Park Amphitheater for an evening under the stars with psychedelic musician SassyBlack (Catherine Harris-White). Described as “a space aged Goddess of electronic psychedelic soul & hologram funk,” SassyBlack’s music has roots in both classical and jazz. She received a Bachelors in Music from Cornish College of the Arts in 2008, and was, until recently, part of the duo THEESatisfaction (Sub Pop Records). SassyBlack independently released the EP “Personal Sunlight” and on May 17, her debut solo album No More Lame Dates.
The Untuning of the Sky is a series of outdoor events throughout the summer that brings together music, poetry, and film inspired by the mystery and wonder of the sky at night. Held at venues across Seattle, the series links such divergent cultural traditions as the Music of the Spheres and afrofuturism with contemporary astronomical theory. The series takes its name from John Hollander’s 1961 book by the same name that examines the influence of music on poetry.
