Held the second Sunday of each month, ArtVentures encourage families to play, learn, and create together. Each month, we experiment with new ways to think about the world through materials, actions, and collaborations. We take visits into the galleries, make messes in our studio, and meet creative people!
This month we’re listening to art and making sounds inspired by the textures and objects around us. Sound artists Amber Kai Morgan and Garrett Kelly show us how to create soundscape recordings with tools like voices, musical instruments, household and natural materials, digital sound files, and even an underwater microphone! At the end of this collaborative sound-making experience, we’ll have a completed sound file available for all participants to enjoy. No musical/sound art experience necessary to participate.
Amber Kai Morgan is a sound artist and co-owner and teacher for The Makery, a mobile art lab. Garrett Kelly is a musician, sound artist, and geek. Together, they founded Hollow Earth Radio.
