ArtVenture: Shred, Stretch, and Sculpt! with Mita Mahato

Held the second Sunday of each month, ArtVentures encourage families to play, learn, and create together.
What happens when artists transform everyday materials into new environments? Find out as we crumple, cut, and push the limits of newspapers, magazines, and fabric scraps to build a giant landscape. We’ll think about how we move, see, and work together through spaces—all the while gathering ideas from Vik Muniz: Twisted Realism and Senga Nengudi: Improvisational Gestures.
Mita Mahato holds a PhD in English and works predominantly in cut paper, collage, and comics to build multi-layered stories. Also an educator, Mahato has taught workshops at the University of British Columbia, The Evergreen State College, and the Seattle Aquarium.
