Alice Gosti: a tiny act of kindness
In this durational work—included as part of the exhibition —pairs of people lay in repose and repeat a caress. As the action recurs, variations of the intimate gesture emerge, inviting shifts in meaning, both as experienced in the body of the dancers, and perceived by viewers.
Based in Seattle, Alice Gosti (U.S., born Italy, 1985) is a self-described “architect of experiences” who places movement at the core of her work. Trained as a dancer and choreographer, Gosti has presented work nationally and internationally, and in 2013 inaugurated Yellow Fish//Epic Durational Performance Festival. Gosti received an Artist Trust Gap Grant and a Seattle Office of Arts and Culture individual project award for her work How to become a partisan, which was presented in the Saint Mark's Cathedral in Seattle, as part of Velocity Dance Center’s MADE in SEATTLE program in 2015.
