Join Seattle artist and musician Garek Druss for a presentation of new sound work at the Sylvan Grove outdoor theater. This live performance will be based on an audio tour designed by the artist to sonically guide visitors across campus from the Henry to the Center for Computer Science & Engineering.
Garek Druss is a Seattle-based artist and musician whose aural and visual work aims to create a multi-layered experience that examines what comes after the simple act of hearing has taken place. Druss uses frequency and tone to address notions of time, space, and ecstatic states to create work that subtly expands the audiences palette for deeper listening and contemplation. Working through elements of painting and sculpture the artist often translates these original music compositions into diagrammatic forms to evoke a phenomenological sense of singularity between sight and sound.
Druss is a member of the Seattle-based ensemble Saint Genet and performs in a variety of musical projects, including A Story of Rats. He has performed at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, On The Boards, The Donau Festival, and he is also participating in an upcoming series of alternative listening events in the Cisco Morris Biodiversity Garden, at Seattle University’s Hedreen Gallery.
