Hugo House Scribes Summer Writing Camp
The Henry and the Jacob Lawrence Gallery have teamed up with Hugo House to offer a session of their popular Scribes Summer Writing Camps at the museum. Scribes will wander the labyrinth of artistic treasures the Henry Art Gallery and the Jacob Lawrence Gallery have to offer. Together with instructors Greg Stump and Samar Albulhassan, Scribes will engage dynamically with a wide range of creative writing and participate in quality programming that includes arts-driven filed trips, experimental forms, collaborative pieces. Whether your bag is creating poetry, comics, maps, characters, or short prose, you’ll find something to connect with and something new to try in this multi-genre exploration of words and pictures. The session will culminate in a community reading in the Henry's auditorium where Scribes will have the opportunity to share their work, and all will contribute to a handmade anthology zine collecting selected work. All skill levels welcome.
The Henry is a place for all visitors to enjoy, learn, and be inspired. The museum is fully accessible by wheelchair, and we strive to provide services and accommodations for anyone who needs assistance. Please email contact-museumservices@henryart.org with particular needs or concerns you may have. If you need ASL services, please make your request two weeks in advance of your visit.
