Being a Career Artist: A conversation with Sophia Al-Maria

University of Washington students interested in learning how to navigate being a career artist are invited to a special conversation with Sophia Al-Maria. A Qatari-American artist, writer, and filmmaker, Al-Maria interrogates histories of colonial authority in contemporary culture in her latest exhibition, Not My Bag, currently on view at the Henry.
During this small group program, you and fellow University of Washington students will have the opportunity to hear about Al-Maria’s artistic journey, her challenges and successes, and her advice for aspiring artists. You will also get to ask her questions and network with your peers. The program will take place in the Education Studio at the Henry.
