Playtime assembled some recent additions to the permanent collection that privilege whimsical, playful imagery. Toys, trinkets, and games are combined in absurd, but highly graphic, sculptural ways in works that reflect grown-up configurations of youthful pleasures, pastimes, and preoccupations. Works by Deborah Brown, Nicole Eisenman, Fabrice Hybert, Jon Kessler, Sean Landers, Larry Mantello, and others demonstrated a wide-ranging examination of childhood experiences amongst contemporary artists.
