Eyes on the Collection: The Great Outdoors

    Online Presentation
    Summer 2020
Curated by Hayley Makinster, Former Collections Assistant

As I sit in my apartment, contemplating another day indoors, my mind inevitably wanders to wild spaces. Humans have an interesting relationship with nature, and many artists and poets have attempted to capture the concept of wilderness in their works. While I enjoy walking around my neighborhood, I find that natural spaces bring a certain feeling of peace and contemplation that an urban landscape does not. Many pieces from the Henry’s collection are able to capture that sense of wilderness and remind me of days spent hiking and enjoying the world around me.
