    A Forest For The Trees

    Upper Level Galleries
    October 02, 2007 — December 30, 2007
Like many elements of nature, trees have been ascribed cultural and symbolic significance through the ages. This exhibition of historical and contemporary photographs highlighted the remarkable continuity and diversity of trees as a subject matter for photographers. The exhibition, drawn mainly from the Henry’s Monsen Collection of Photography, underscored their formal beauty, their allegorical and material uses, and their contested position in human politics.
