Fay Ray received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design and MFA from Columbia University. She attended residency at the Los Angeles Nomadic Division. Ray has participated in national and international exhibitions, including the El Museo del Barrio, New York; SOIL, Seattle; Mona Bismarck American Center, Paris, France; The Mistake Room, Mexico City, Mexico; and Museo de Art de Puerto Rico, Santurce, among others.
