This Test Site* presentation centers on Erwin Wurm’s One Minute Sculptures, a recent addition to the Henry collection. This humorous and poignant video reveals the artist and others attempting to create sculptures using their bodies and a range of commonplace things. As they hold poses and become momentary objects, their actions stir up thoughts about the sculptural and performative properties of the everyday. The work also spurs viewers to think about the potential for sculpture to be a temporally-bound, instruction-based, or performance-oriented medium.

Throughout this presentation visitors will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of participatory experiences designed to explore the concepts introduced in Wurm’s One Minute Sculptures. From interactive sculpture making and object-based movement workshops to afternoon artist residencies, visitors are encouraged to question their definition of sculpture by encountering their own unexpected relationships with everyday objects.

The activities for this space will be divided into three movements;

WATCH/ READ

Organized by Henry Curator Sara Krajewski
The Henry’s Test Site* is a collaborative and multi-dimensional space dedicated to the exploration of cultural production and latency. Keeping in line with the Henry’s mission and goals the site may be used for a variety of programs, exhibitions, projects, and thought experiments. Taking in stride our academic surroundings, the Henry’s Test Site is an ongoing laboratory of ideas. An incubator for creative development and research. A practicum in developing presence of mind.
